:: Activities :: Annual Sharings :: 2003-2005
This is an annual gathering of members and friends where members display and showcase some of their art pieces followed by a buffet lunch. In each occasion the Club invites artists to demonstrate special painting techniques to enhance members’ skills.
She placed a plate on the wheel, gave it a slight spin and then placed her brush loaded with paint which gave a nice swirl of paint around the edge of the plate for a lovely border.
She painted a cockatoo with flora background for a one-fire technique.
She used special fabric paints and demonstrated painting of peonies on T-shirts.
She showed how to use fat oil and turpentine to do a landscape piece. The fired plate looked just like Chinese brush painting and was very different and unique to porcelain painting.
She painted fruits like apples, grapes and even blueberries. There were a lot of ooh's and ah's from the audience as Meelee went about gliding her brush over the bone china plate applying strong colours to the plate. The finished plate looked amazing, we almost wanted to eat the plate.
She showed us how to paint a one-fire tulip. Members were fascinated how she applied brush and paint to bring the flower to life.
Members share their inspirations and creative ideas by exhibiting their painted china and watching two demonstrations: "Colourful borders" by Rosemary Oh and "Pre-cut stencil technique" by Janny Chan Wong
